What led you to apply to APHD at OISE?
I chose to apply to APHD for various reasons such as the dedication to research excellence and the incredible work being done by faculty members. I also appreciated the unique training opportunities offered in the program such as the supervision practicum and the DIP.

What was your past experience like?
I have spent a lot of time working in higher education, in admissions teams and with international students which I hope to continue doing in the future. I have completed placements in various settings such as a substance use outpatient treatment centre, private practice and a hospital.

Are there any past accomplishments that you would like to highlight?
During the last academic year, I completed my internship in the Reproductive Life Stages program at Women’s College Hospital. This was one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my career so far! It also inspired me to continue working in women’s health.

What is one thing you like most about your experience so far at OISE?
The meaningful relationships I have formed with colleagues, faculty and staff members. I have been truly inspired by those around me and feel grateful for these connections.

What is your favourite thing about Toronto?
My favorite thing about Toronto has to be the people! I have lived in 5 countries so far and Toronto feels the most like home so far.

What does your “weekend” typically look like?
My weekend typically involves a boxing class or two, spending time with loved ones, re- watching comfort tv shows.

What are some of your hobbies & interests?
I love sports so I am always either watching and/or playing soccer or taking a boxing class. I also enjoy reading when I have the time for it. I grew up travelling a lot with my family so that’s something I am passionate about.

What is your favourite type of cuisine?
While I absolutely love Italian and Mexican food, Indian food at home has a special place in my heart.

Where do you see yourself after you achieve your degree from APHD?
I am hoping to be able to support women’s’ mental health and providing low-cost therapy where possible. I am hoping to continue doing research and working in higher education either in a leadership or teaching capacity. I also hope to be able to do my part in challenging the stigma around mental health in countries that I grew up in.
