OISE professor Kang Lee makes cameo appearance on Netflix series
Professor Kang Lee, a researcher in OISE鈥檚 department of Applied Psychology and Human Development, has made his Netflix debut.
The OISE faculty member appears in the first episode of a second installment of episodes for the docuseries Babies, which premiered on the streaming service June 19. The series released an initial block of episodes this past winter.
The show, which follows a number of newborn and infant babies and their families, goes into great detail about developmental science and psychology 鈥 where they also interview some of the world鈥檚 top experts in the field.
In the episode 鈥淲hat Babies Know,鈥 Lee introduces the Netflix audience to his research about the developmental neuroscience 鈥 specifically, racist bias in six- and nine-month old babies. Netflix interviewed Lee at his OISE lab and shot footage on campus 鈥 including at his lab and in nearby neighbourhoods in the city.
鈥淚n my session I talked about how babies learn about faces about developing racial biases and things like that,鈥 said Lee, who was thrilled to take part in a study he initially published in 2017. 鈥淚t was a real treat.鈥
Netflix鈥檚 Babies is now available on the streaming service.
